LEADERSHIP MEMBER - Kayla Bevard

We would like to take the chance to highlight one of our wonderful leadership team members - Kayla Bevard.
Kayla just celebrated her 16th birthday and we are so proud to have had Kayla as a member of the Lindon leadership team. She has been with us since we opened and has studied karate with Justus for over 7 years! She is an extremely hard worker, great motivator and caring instructor. We know we can always count on Kayla to be our best cheerleader! She is a fantastic example of what the Leadership Team is all about.
Kayla will be testing for her 3rd degree black belt this fall and we look forward to being their and cheering her on.

LINDON PARADE

Woohoo - way to go SWAT and STORM at our last parade of the season. It was a smaller parade but the enthusiasm was high and had a great home town feel. Both teams did FANTASTIC. STORM team looked phenomenal and did a great job keeping things in sync and sharp. And it's been especially fun to watch how far our SWAT team has come this season (many of them are first time members of the team.
We are so proud of you guys!
And a special thanks to our invited karate guests. As a reward for hard work in class and at karate kamp, we invited these students to attend the parade. They all did a great job and were great examples of BLK Lindon!
Be sure to thank your parents because we couldn't do it with out them! We appreciate all the time you have taken to get them to practices and events. The kids have been doing so well because of the commitment both you and your demo team member have put in.
You guys ROCK!

JUSTUS LAWRENCE at GOLDEN GATE NATIONALS APRIL 2008

This is one of Justus's fight at the Golden Gate Nationals in San Francisco. It is one of my favorites every year! Some of the best fighters in the nation come to compete and it is so cool to watch. We were lucky enough to watch Justus's uncle Mark and his brother Dallas compete also.
Justus took:
1st place - Traditional Forms
1st place - Light Middle Sparring
1st place - Continuous Sparring
2nd place - Team Sparring
and something really exciting
Overall Grand Champion in Sparring
(this is when all the winners of the separate sparring divisions from feather weight to Super Heavy and in between, compete until there is one man left standing).

SUMMER GAME RECAP

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Can you believe that it has already been 1 year?!!? The saying "time flies when you are having fun" definitely rings true. We had fun classes, activities, prizes and best of all performances by our SWAT and STORM team members. We were able to get some footage of the STORM's every popular JEDI routine:

JUSTUS COMPETE NATIONALS 2008

Many of you haven't had a chance to see Justus compete on a National or International level, so we thought it would be fun to start sharing some of his fights and footage here.
He went the Compete Nationals tournament in Ontario, California. He took:
1st in Light Weight Continuous Sparring and
1st in Sparring
During the runoffs he received an injury that threw him out for overall finals. But all in all, Justus had a good time and felt great about being able to compete.
This is one of his fights:

OREM PARADE - SUMMERFEST

I LOVE this parade! Of all the parades we do, I think it's my favorite. The best part of the whole thing... they are the only ones who do it in the evening.
There was such a great crowd and the kids all did such a great job!

PLEASANT GROVE PARADE

We did this parade with the American Fork school, so we came with quite the entourage :)
